Past Southern Gas Field Community Consultative Committee
We are one of Australia’s leading natural gas producers focused on developing Queensland’s world-class onshore gas reserves. QGC was the first in the world to produce LNG from natural gas sourced in coal seam and operates the two-train, Queensland Curtis LNG liquefaction plant. QGC produces natural gas from the Surat Basin of southern Queensland and supplies domestic and international markets.
In the Surat Basin area, four committees (Regional, Southern, Central and Northern Gas Fields Community Consultative Committees) amalgamated in 2015 to form two committees that better represented the region in line with QGC's transition from a focus on major project construction to operations.
The Southern Gas Field Community Consultative Committee, first convened in March 2010, to discuss issues and opportunities connected to QCG's work in the southern region of the Surat Basin.
It represented people living in and around larger towns such as Tara and Dalby, as well as Wieambilla, Beelbee, Daandine, Weranga, Goranba, Kumbarilla, Kuann, Halliford and Marmadua.
The committee convened every three months and was chaired by an independent facilitator. QGC provided a secretariat role, issuing minutes and reporting back on action points raised.
