Shell QGC supplies around 15% of Australia’s east coast gas market - powering homes, businesses and industry. It’s one of Australia's leading natural gas producers and develops onshore gas resources in Queensland’s Surat Basin.

Shell QGC works with local communities, landholders and suppliers while managing its operations in accordance with environmental requirements and commitments.

Our operations

Located in Queensland's Surat Basin, Shell QGC produces natural gas for domestic and international markets. Its operations include:

  • More than 3,500 production wells
  • 25 field compression stations
  • Six central processing plants
  • Two water treatment plants
  • A two-train LNG export facility on Curtis Island

Shell is the operator and majority interest holder in the QGC venture. Our partners in the LNG plant on Curtis Island are CNOOC (50% equity in Train 1) and MidOcean Energy (2.5% equity in Train 2).

Walloons markets and trades natural gas on behalf of the Queensland Curtis LNG venture, including supplying gas into Australia's domestic gas market.
