Top 10 trucking podcasts of 2023
Podcasts would have to be just about the best invention for making the job more enjoyable for long-distance truck drivers. Here are 10 of our podcast picks, all made with truckies in mind.

Before podcasts were a thing, the truckie go-to for varied audio content was both kinds of music: country and western. But since the advent of the podcast, a whole new universe of listening material has opened up. There are podcasts out there covering everything from knitting to noodles. But here, we’re sticking with some of the best ones aimed at truckies. Take your pick, or listen to them all – just be sure to queue your podcasts before setting off, so you’re not distracted while driving.
Copy Southbound
Settle in to hear real-life stories from some of the pioneers of Aussie trucking. We featured Copy Southbound on last year’s Best Podcasts list, but we have no problem including it again, because a truckload of fascinating new content has been added in the meantime. These are in-depth conversations (some of them over five hours long) with fascinating folks who have done the hard yards. As one reviewer puts it: “Finally something I have been looking for. A genuine bunch of Australian transportation legends talking about their passions.”
The Truck Show Podcast
A must-listen, if only because it is hosted by Los Angeles veteran radio personality and producer Jay “Lightning” Tilles from KROQ (how American is that!) along with automotive journalist Sean P Holman. “We like trucks, silly jingles, and people who are smarter than us,” they say. The Truck Show Podcast is fast and fun and comes out every Monday – mostly.
Blue Ribbon Podcast
“I listened to every show four or five times,” says one reviewer of the Blue Ribbon Podcast. “It’s that good.” Whether you want to go to that extreme is up to you, but you owe it to yourself to give the show formerly known as The American Truck Driver Podcast at least one listen. It’s all about how to survive and thrive in the trucking industry as an owner-operator, and while it’s US based, there’s plenty in here to keep Aussie drivers glued to their speakers.
Keep on Moving
For a change of perspective, head over the Tasman and join journos from New Zealand Trucking Media to get the lowdown on everything that’s happening truckie-wise in the Land of the Long White Cloud. As you might expect, Keep on Moving comes with big dollop of Kiwi humour thrown in.
3 Fat Truckers
Speaking of humour, Americans Bill, Dave, and Steve have a great old time discussing issues both silly and serious (with a definite bias towards the silly) from the world of trucking and life in general. The 3 Fat Truckers are pretty good company; sit back and chuckle along on your drives.
Truck & Driver
We’ve included American and Kiwi podcasts, so it would feel a bit rude to leave out the Poms. Wouldn’t want to give them anything to whinge about. (Joke!) Check out Truck & Driver (“the podcast for lorry drivers”) to find out what our truckie friends in England are discussing.
Haulin Assets
Another US how-to-run-a-trucking-business podcast, Haulin Assets is hosted by Chris Vernon, who shares the highs and lows of taking the plunge and going it alone. The mix of tips, financial reports, expert interviews, and listener stories and questions has proved a big hit with truckie podcast fans: its average review score is a perfect 5.0.
Crazy Canuck Truckin’
Did someone mention Canada? Crazy Canuck Dave – AKA David K Henry – has had some trauma in his time, with major head injuries, and struggles with depression, and his podcast, Crazy Canuck Truckin’, is his attempt to bring feel-good campfire family therapy to your truck cabin. If you want inspirational interviews that are going to make you feel better about life, you’re in the right place.
What the Truck?!?
Need another healthy dose of high-octane US enthusiasm to pep you up on a long drive? What the Truck?!? offers an upbeat, irreverent take on trucking news and issues, featuring interviews with everyone from drivers to CEOs, three days a week.
On the Road
We’re bookending our top 10 list with Aussies. Yes, we featured On the Road last year, but it’s just too good to not mention again. The podcast made for Aussie truckies by Aussie truckies is a huge hit out on those endless highways – and for good reason. Mike Williams, the editor of Truckin’ Life magazine, presents an entertaining and thought-provoking blend of independent trucking news and views, with some interesting guests, and a guitar-twanging tune or two.
