Prelude in Position

Prelude’s arrival in Australian waters this year signalled a shift in focus for the Prelude project. We moved from construction into hook-up and commissioning, and offshored more than 1500 people to carry out the complex task of mooring Prelude to its home for the next 25 years.

Meet Jeremy Walker, Lead Production Technician on Prelude

After working in Geoje, South Korea, on the construction of the Prelude FLNG facility, the Australian Operations Team are now working on the facility offshore. We hear from Lead Production Technician Jeremy Walker on what life is like now Prelude is on location.

Prelude’s fibre optic cable is now connected

Vocus recently announced the successful connection of its high-speed fibre-optic North-West Cable System (“NWCS”), to the INPEX Ichthys LNG Project and Shell’s Prelude FLNG facility located off the north-west coast of Australia.

Mooring Prelude

After a journey of nearly 6000 kms, Prelude FLNG has arrived in Australia where it will produce liquefied natural gas for the next 25 years. But first the project team must moor the largest floating facility ever built. Watch the latest Prelude video here.

Practice makes perfect

At HR Wallingford in Fremantle, a state of the art simulation centre has brought together the team responsible for towing the Prelude FLNG facility from Geoje in south Korea and positioning it at the remote Prelude gas field in the East Browse Basin, 200 kilometres off the coast of Western Australia.
