The 50-plus year relationship will see DJR Team Penske continue as the Shell V-Power Racing Team, to bring to life events and programs that have the heart of Motorsport fans at its core.
David Katic, General Manager of Marketing and Business Strategy at Shell’s licensee, said that the extension solidifiesa long and successful partnership that is rich in heritage.
“Through our partnership with DJR Team Penske, we’ve been able to drive Shell Motorsport association and awareness of our Shell V-Power premium fuels,” Katic said.
“The team’s on-track success has amplified our key premium fuel brand attributes, growing brand preference and loyalty. Off-track we’ve also had great success in developing fantastic relationships with the team and their partner group.
“This long-term extension means that both organisations have the confidence to invest in the future to build on last year’s amazing success. We feel the Shell V-Power Racing Team is on the verge of creating something special in Australian motorsport.”
After a successful opening year of the partnership, 2017 saw Fabian Coulthard and Scott McLaughlin starring in a national Shell V-Power television commercial, with a new campaign being launched in the next couple of days. Additionally, the award-winning Shell V-Power Virtual Reality Pit Stop gave motorsport enthusiasts a taste of what it’s like to experience a real-life pit stop scenario. Having already activated in Adelaide and Bathurst, 2018 will see the technology visit additional races around the country.
As a first for Australian Motorsport, the partnership will go even further in 2018 with an enhanced Shell V-Power Racing Team Mates program that will offer free newsletters, behind the scenes access and other special offers, including celebratory fuel discounts to members during key moments of the season. The program further cements Shell V-Power Racing Team’s commitment to delivering amazing experiences to the fans that gets them closer to the Supercars Championship.
Shell V-Power Racing Team Principal Ryan Story said that having the iconic Shell brand adorning the team’s Supercars is a source of intense pride.
“Partnership with Shell is a part of the very fabric of this team. It has always been there, and we’ve shared some of our greatest moments with the Shell logo on the doors,” said Story.
“To know that we have that backing for years to come is exciting and motivating all at once. We intend to bring much success to this partnership and will push harder than ever to keep Shell at the front of the pack.”
Shell V-Power Racing Team is eager to continue their success in 2018 and it all begins this week at the opening round of the Supercars Championship season, Adelaide 500.
