Q&A with Graduate Production Geoscientist, Danielle
Danielle Poskus has a Bachelor of Applied Science with a major in Geophysics. She shares her experience on the Shell Graduate Programme.

What subject did you study at University?
I studied a Bachelor of Applied Science with a major in Geophysics at University. I am currently completing a PhD in Geophysics.
How long have you been with Shell?
I have been with Shell for nearly four years. I started the Shell Graduate Program in June 2011 and finished the program in June 2014. I am now on the Shell Advanced Technical Program. The Shell Advanced Technical Programme is a structured development programme for experienced technical professional. It includes on-the-job tasks and workplace assignments, supported by core and discipline-specific learning activities and will include structured coaching and mentoring programmes to support the increased on-the-job learning. Shortening time to autonomy and time to integration.
What made you choose Shell and its Graduate Programme over other companies?
I wanted to work for a company, like Shell that offers a flexible, fast-paced environment with challenging assignments and global opportunities. Being part of an organisation that is at the forefront of shaping the world’s energy needs by developing ground breaking technologies is an exciting place to be!
What do you enjoy about your role?
Shell is a company that encourages you to take the wheel and drive your own development. I thoroughly enjoy the high level of independence and trust that I have in my role. Some travel, for training and business purposes, is another great factor; and I enjoy the opportunity to learn about other cultures and build my global networks.
What makes Shell an attractive place to work?
On-the-job learning and mentoring from my technical coaches has been of great benefit to me. All the training, both informal and formal, have been relevant to my role and has allowed me to learn about other aspects of Shell’s businesses.
What major projects is Shell currently working on within your area?
We have been drilling the development wells for the Prelude FLNG project. I had the opportunity to work offshore on the Noble Clyde Boudreaux while we were drilling the reservoir sections for some of these wells.
Do you feel like you are making a difference to the industry?
I feel like I am part of a global organisation that consistently pushes the boundaries in order to tackle the world’s growing energy demands by using innovative thinking and cutting edge technology.
What do you enjoy most about life at Shell?

My supervisors and technical coaches have supported my career development through tailored training, personal development programs, on-the-job learning and mentoring. Shell also actively works with me to close any gaps in my knowledge by providing me with exciting and challenging experiences. While my mentor offers advice and regularly encourages me to reach my career goals and potential.
