Shell Australia is seeking to consult with people in preparation for the five-yearly revision of the Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) Environment Plan.
We want to hear from you if your functions, interests, or activities may be affected by the activities, risks and potential impacts described in this Environment Plan. Please also connect if you have cultural heritage interests, or if you know someone else who may be affected.

Prelude planning area
Activity description
- Production operations: including receiving and processing Crux gas and maintenance turnarounds of Prelude FLNG and its subsea facilities.
- Operations within the designated safety zone: including supply and in-field support vessels and helicopters. Product offtake tankers or bunkering vessels only when they are attached to Prelude (considered a petroleum activity).
- Maintenance and inspection: including activities to inspect and maintain hardware and equipment and underwater inspection, maintenance and repair of subsea facilities, systems and infrastructure.
- Physical modifications to the facility: including removal, re-purposing, and installation of equipment, to facilitate its operational life in line with design intent and to maintain safe and reliable operations.
- Well intervention activities: using a light well intervention vessel.
- Services: including:
- Maritime and terminal operations - activities relating to the management of access and movement of marine vessels within the Safety Zone; and the management of product offloading and import activities.
- Helicopter operations.
- Management of lifting and hoisting and deck services on the Prelude FLNG facility.
- Facility catering services.
- Potential future tie-ins from within the Prelude field.
- Emergency Response events.
