Divestment of Shell's Downstream business in Australia
Shell’s Downstream business in Australia (excluding Aviation), was divested in mid-2014 to Vitol.
The divestment included the:
- Retail business;
- Commercial Fuels;
- Geelong Refinery;
- Sales & Marketing; and
- Supply & Distribution.
The sale also included a Trademark Licence Agreement, which will see the Shell brand remain at around 870 service stations Australia wide – with customers still able to buy Shell branded quality fuels and lubricants and products to meet their needs.
The company will operate in Australia as Viva Energy Australia.
