Meet Scott Goodwin. He’s a mechanical engineer trainee at Western Downs Civil. He got his foot in the door through the Western Downs Indigenous Careers Program we deliver with MIGAS. This is just one way we’re working with local communities to deliver career opportunities. Watch to find out more about Scott’s and his plans for the future.

And hopefully continuing in the construction industry in the local area. He started off quite a shy, young kid and he’s come a long way developing his communication skills. It’s awesome to see that.

Designing, welding, lately we’ve been doing toolboxes. Maintaining around the yard, mainly.

It really means a lot to me as a young Indigenous person because I’ve got my foot in the door with hopefully a trade out of it, or it will lead to a trade. I might end up having a job that I would really enjoy.
