Shell Diesel and AdBlue®
Shell Diesel is a premium grade automotive diesel suitable for use in high speed diesel engines in both automotive and industrial applications. Truck drivers will now be able to replenish their AdBlue® needs conveniently while they fill up with diesel or have the ability for home base solutions.
Introducing Shell V-Power Diesel, designed to help improve engine efficiency and performance. It is formulated with boosted cleaning power which actively removes existing fuel system deposits and help restore lost performance.
Shell Diesel is an automotive diesel designed to help improve engine efficiency. It is suitable for use in high speed diesel engines in both automotive and industrial applications. The diesel properties are adjusted during winter to minimise waxing in cold locations. Shell Diesel has a high cetane number to help ensure smooth running and which assists starting at temperatures well below those prevailing in Australia. It is a low sulphur diesel, which contains 10 parts per million (or 10mg/kg) of sulphur.
In some locations and when bio-component is available, Shell Diesel may also contain up to 5% biodiesel, as allowed by the Fuel Standard (Automotive Diesel) Determination 2001. All biodiesel used in diesel supply complies with the requirements of the Australian fuel quality standard for biodiesel set out in the Fuel Standard (Biodiesel) Determination 2003.
Shell Diesel Extra has been redesigned to deliver lower operating costs and improve engine efficiency1. It can deliver more load-pulling power on sites. It can help you use fuels with bio components, reduce risk of fuel degradation and sludge build-up2, helping improve equipment reliability1. It can also help to improve fuel economy2, which in turn help reduce fuel and operating costs2. This is achieved by clearing the engine of injector deposits and prevent further build-up.
1. New Shell Diesel Extra (also known overseas as Shell Fuelsave Diesel) is designed to help provide better fuel economy and therefore helps lower operating costs, compared to Shell's previous formulation of Shell Diesel Extra, in July 2019. It helps improve oxidation stability and keep fuel more stable in presence of bio components. It is designed to help you use fuels with bio components and reduce risk of fuel degradation and sludge build-up – therefore helping improve equipment reliability. As experienced by some customers, rather than based on Shell protocols.
2. Compared to regular diesel without fuel economy formula. Actual savings may vary according to vehicle, driving conditions and driving style. Internal Shell tests and with our customers have shown.
Biofuels are renewable plant or animal-based feedstock that can be blended into diesel. They are a valuable part of the energy mix as a way to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Shell Biodiesel may contain up to 5% biofuel as allowed by the Fuel Standard (Automotive Diesel) Determination 2019 and meets the requirements of the Australian National Fuels Quality Standards Act 2000 which means that it can be used in vehicles that run on conventional diesel.
The New South Wales and Queensland Governments are ensuring that biofuels are becoming widely available and has set a mandate requiring a percentage of fuel in these states contain renewables.
Shell has developed a range of fuels that are designed to assist Australian drivers reduce their carbon footprint and supports this mandate by offering Shell Biodiesel when available.
We are very pleased to announce that our AdBlue® at pump presence has significantly expanded (please see our updated site listing below) to meet the growing demands of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) equipped trucks and continue its investment in the Australian truck network.
In addition to offering AdBlue® at pump, AdBlue® is also available in 10 litre packs at more than 100 Shell Coles Express and retail sites, and is now available in bulk supply and 1000L IBCs for commercial customers.
AdBlue® is a fluid used in trucks to help them reduce their emissions. The fluid is sprayed into the exhaust of trucks (after the diesel has been combusted) and helps to convert oxides of nitrogen into harmless gas and water vapour.
The exciting news is that truck drivers will now be able to replenish their AdBlue® needs conveniently while they fill up with Diesel or have the ability for home base solutions, and can be assured of a high quality solution that meets the Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) certified ISO-22241 1-3 industry standard.
