50th anniversary celebrations continue with fuel price drop
Oct. 04, 2017
Shell V-Power Racing Team continued to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the relationship between Shell and Dick Johnson today, by dropping fuel prices to 17 cents per litre at Shell Coles Express Bathurst.
For one hour this morning, the Shell Coles Express site on Rocket St in Bathurst was thrown back to 1967 – the year the Shell/Dick Johnson partnership began.
The full line-up of Shell V-Power Racing Team drivers was onsite, including Championship leader Scott McLaughlin, Fabian Coulthard, reigning Pirtek Enduro Cup Champion Alex Premat, Tony D’Alberto and hall-of-famer Dick Johnson, pumping fuel, signing autographs and chatting to customers about the 2017 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Shell V-Power Racing Team co-owner Dick Johnson said that he was delighted to be able to share the celebrations with fans, ahead of this weekend’s Bathurst 1000.
“I have enjoyed a very long career, and shared plenty of success with Shell. To be able to share that success with many of our fans and Shell Coles Express customers this morning is fantastic,” Johnson said.
“Seeing their reactions to the special price as they rolled onto the forecourt, and then be served by Shell V-Power Racing Team was great. A fantastic start to the Bathurst 1000 week.”
Shell V-Power Racing Team will hit the track at Mount Panorama tomorrow for opening practice in the 2017 Bathurst 1000. Qualifying is Friday, with the famous Top 10 Shootout on Saturday and the 1000km epic on Sunday.
