Statement from Shell regarding proposed AWU action
Jun. 14, 2013
Shell announced in April its intention to sell the Geelong Refinery, and the company’s efforts are directed toward achieving a sale.
The best chances of achieving a sale are served by employees, unions, the Geelong community and the company working together to attract a suitable buyer.
Shell understands this is an uncertain time for employees at the refinery, and the company is committed to continue keeping them informed of progress with the sale process.
A sale represents the best way to preserve local jobs in the Geelong community.
