Delivering community benefits through Prelude to the Future
Oct. 03, 2018
Shell Australia is pleased to launch the fourth Prelude to the Future apprenticeship training scheme in Darwin, delivered in partnership with the Department of Trade, Business and Innovation, GTNT and Charles Darwin University.

Prelude to the future first opened its doors in 2015 and has gone from strength to strength. Almost 80% of participants have secured employment after completing the program.
This fourth Prelude to the Future program will focus on enabling participants to complete a dual apprenticeship and attain Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology (Diesel Fitter) and Certificate III in Electrical Fitter, producing nationally qualified Diesel and Electrical Fitters. This is the first time in Australia that these two qualifications will be run together with the aim of being work ready in a Power Generation Specialist/Technician role.
David Bird, VP Prelude, is pleased to launch the fourth Prelude to the Future apprenticeship training scheme “the highly successful program provides students the opportunity to gain work-ready skills and qualifications and opens-up future employment opportunities” said David.
“We have also benefited from the program directly with a number of apprentices finding work with our Prelude Contractors. We look forward to welcoming the next round of apprentices in 2019 and supporting them as they work to achieve the dual Diesel and Electrical Fitter qualification. This is the first time these two qualifications have been run together - the aim being to get students ready to work in an Auto Electrician role”.
