What are the changes?
Shell Helix and Shell Rimula product names are changing as well as some specifications are being improved. The following table summarises the name changes, a full SKU list with material numbers and names, and any specification changes is available on www.shell.com.au/lubricants.
* Shell Rimula R3 X 15W-40 is also a suitable replacement for Shell Rimula D and Shell Rimula M.
When exactly are these changes occurring?
Phase 1: From 1 June 2009 Helix and Rimula products 20 litres and larger will transition to the new product names when stock of the current product is run down.
Phase 2: From 1 September 2009 all products 6 litres and under will transition to the new names. At the same time we will be launching new improved packaging and labeling. More details will be communicated to customers in August regarding these changes.
Why are the names of these products changing?
Our new Shell Helix and Rimula names have been designed to offer a simplified range, making it easier for you to choose the right oil for your operations.
Are there any other changes happening to the portfolio?
Yes, products in 10L packs are being deleted. Refer to the SKU list on www.shell.com.au/lubricants for more details.
How will I know when the new product is available for ordering?
Please continue to order as normal until our customer service centre (ph: 13 16 18) advises you that the new product is available for ordering.
Who should I contact if I have questions about the product changes?
If you have any concerns or questions about the product changes please contact your Shell account manager.
How do I know if a replacement product is suitable for my application?
In most cases the new products are direct replacements for the existing products, however, you should contact our Technical Advice Team on 13 16 18 to confirm whether an alternative product is suitable for your application.
Can I upgrade directly from Rimula D 15W-40 or Rimula M 15W-40 to the new Rimula R3 X 15W-40?
We suggest you contact our Technical Advice Team on 1300 134 205 to discuss your application, and which new Shell product is the most suitable replacement.
Are there any specification changes associated with the portfolio change?
Shell Helix HX7 10W-40, Shell Helix HX7 AJ 10W-30 are being upgraded to API SM specification.
Shell Helix HX5 G 15W-40 is being upgraded to API SL specification.
All pack sizes of Shell Rimula R4 L 15W-40 will be API CJ-4 specification.

Will there be a price increase due to these changes?
There will be no price increases relating to these changes except for customers who purchase Rimula R3 X as a replacement for Rimula D and/or Rimula M. If you have any questions please refer to your Shell customer price list, or contact your account manager.
