In Australia we have two companies Shell Australia Limited (SAL) and Shell Energy Holdings Australia Limited (SEHAL).
Ann Pickard
Country Chair, Shell in Australia and Executive Vice President, Upstream Australia

Ann came to Australia in March 2010 to take up the role of Executive Vice President Upstream Australia within the Shell Upstream International organization, responsible for the exploration, production and gas commercialization part of Shell’s Australian business and in August 2010 was appointed Country Chair of Shell in Australia.
Described by Fortune Magazine as the bravest woman in oil and one of the 50 most powerful women in business, Ann was Shell’s Regional Executive Vice President for Sub Sahara Africa, based in Lagos Nigeria, for the past 5 years. In that role she oversaw the company’s exploration & production, gas and LNG activities in the region.
Before that, Ann was Director, Global Businesses and Strategy and a member of the Shell Gas & Power Executive Committee with responsibility for Global LNG, Power, and Gas & Power Strategy.
Ann came to Shell in 2000, leaving Mobil upon the merger with Exxon. She has significant business experience throughout South America, the countries of the former Soviet Union, the Middle East and Africa.
Ann has an MA from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from the University of California, San Diego. She is a member of the Board of the Energy & Minerals Institute, University of Western Australia and is a non-executive director of the Westpac board. She is married and has two children.

Andrew Smith
Vice President, Downstream Australia

Andrew joined Shell Australia in 1986 as a refinery engineer in Geelong and has held a variety of positions in technical, operational and commercial areas within the Downstream business in The Netherlands, Fiji, Singapore, Australia and United Kingdom.
Until returning to Australia in January 2010, he was responsible for Shell's global Product Trading business based in London where he worked for 7 years. He was the Manufacturing Director of Shell in Singapore and Pulau Bukom Refinery Manager and is a director of the Shell/Saudi Aramco Joint Venture Refinery in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
Andrew was appointed Vice President Downstream Australia in January 2010, and a Director of the Australian Institute of Petroleum in February 2010.
Andrew was born in Melbourne in 1964. He graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Honours degree in Chemical Engineering and holds a post graduate diploma in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from Monash University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers and Chartered Engineer.
Andrew is married with 2 sons and is a keen sailor.

Michael Carey
Vice President Finance & Strategy, Shell Development Australia

Michael Carey is Vice President Finance and Strategy for Shell’s Exploration and Production business in Australia and is Shell’s Chief Financial Officer in Australia.
His previous role was the Head of the Royal Dutch Shell Group’s Mergers and Acquisitions team, based in the Hague, for which he held accountabilities for acquisition and divestment activities in the world outside of the Americas.
From 2005-2008 Michael was the Global Vice President Finance, Strategy & Portfolio, for Shell’s Manufacturing and Marketing businesses. Based in London, Michael had accountabilities for restructuring Shell’s global manufacturing and marketing portfolio. He was also the Chief Financial Officer for Shell’s global Future Fuels and CO2 division, accountable for research and development of biofuels, hydrogen fuels and CO2 abatement and sequestration developments.
Previous roles included accountabilities for finance and business development throughout Shell’s businesses in the Asia Pacific and Middle East region with assignments in Singapore, Malaysia Australia and New Zealand.
Michael holds a Masters in Applied Finance from the University of Melbourne, a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University New Zealand and is a Chartered Accountant.

Chris Ryan
Managing Counsel, Downstream Australia

Chris Ryan joined Shell Australia in Melbourne in 1996 following three years with the Melbourne office of the national law firm Blake Dawson Waldron (now Blake Dawson).
Since then Chris has worked in a number of legal roles for Shell companies in Australia and overseas, including in Perth, London, The Hague and Singapore, principally supporting exploration, production and gas commercialisation activities. Chris returned to Melbourne in May 2011 as Managing Counsel for the Australian Downstream business following three years as the Associate General Counsel for Upstream International Asia, where he had responsibility for Upstream business legal matters throughout the Asian region.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance and is admitted to the Supreme Courts of Victoria, Western Australia and England and Wales. He is an Associate Member of Chartered Secretaries Australia and a member of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association.
Chris is married and has a daughter and two sons.

Tjeerd Anema
General Manager Finance, Downstream Australia

Tjeerd Anema joined Shell Australia in July 2011 as the Downstream Finance Director. Prior to his recent appointment in Australia, Tjeerd was the Finance Manager of Shell's global LPG business.
Since joining Shell in 1993, Tjeerd has held a wide variety of both corporate and commercial finance management roles in The Netherlands, Singapore, the UK and South Africa. In these roles, he had regional or global accountability for finance in a number of Shell's Downstream businesses, including Oil Products and Chemicals.
Tjeerd holds a Masters in Business Economics from the Erasmus University (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and is a Chartered Accountant.
Tjeerd Anema is a citizen of The Netherlands and is married with three daughters.

Douglas Buckley
Vice President, Commercial - Upstream Australia

BE (Chem) Hons (University of Queensland), Columbia Senior Executive Programme (Columbia University,USA), Vice President Commercial for Shell's Upstream businesses in Australia, appointed a Director of Shell Energy Holdings Australia Limited since 1 August 2010.
Mr Buckley has 30 years experience in the international oil and gas industry.
