New General Manager appointed for Shell Geelong Refinery

Shell has announced Mark Schubert, General Manager Supply Oceania, has been selected to succeed Dr Huck Poh as General Manager Geelong Refinery with effect from mid-October.
Mark’s career began in Australian refineries as a process engineer and then as a supply economist before moving to Shell Trading as Global LNG Shipping Manager, working in London and The Hague. He returned to Australia in 2007 to assume his current role.
“Geelong obviously plays an important role in the supply of Eastern Australia’s fuels - making quality products for our customers all the way from Tasmania to Townsville,” said Mark.
“In my present role I have been intimately involved with Geelong operations as my responsibilities include sourcing and transporting the crude into the refinery and then taking away all the refined products.
"I am very much looking forward to working with the Geelong team to continue Huck’s good work,” said Mark.
Dr Huck Poh has been appointed as General Manager Bukom Refinery, Singapore, and Manufacturing Director for Shell Eastern Petroleum Pte Ltd as well as Shell’s Local Senior Downstream Representative in Singapore.
In announcing his departure from Geelong, Huck said it had been a privilege to work with a great refinery team during the past six years.
“In my time in Geelong I have met many wonderful people who have shown enormous dedication to this site from an operational, environmental and social perspective,” said Huck.
“Geelong will remain a fond place for my family and I, and we will most certainly keep in touch with the community - particularly to see how our adopted AFL team, the Cats, go in 2010,” he said.
During the course of his career Huck has held a broad range of positions within Shell including Global Solutions technology delivery, Manager Technology & Economics for Thai Oil, Production Unit Manager and Operational Change Manager for Bukom Refinery and Shell Geelong Refinery Production Manager, before he assumed the role of General Manager.
