MSO magic shines at neighbourhood houses

28/11/2008

On Monday 1 December, the musical magic of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) will spread through the neighbourhood centres in Lara, Rosewall, Norlane and Cloverdale.

With the support of Shell Geelong Refinery, the MSO Outreach Programme is helping to share the joy of classical music with its northern Geelong neighbours.

Local residents are invited to attend the series of free concerts, which will be followed by light refreshments and opportunities to meet members of the prestigious orchestra.

The MSO Outreach Programme has been running in Geelong throughout 2008 and has included inspiring musical workshops at local primary schools.

“Working directly with MSO musicians, primary and secondary school students in the northern suburbs of Geelong have been inspired to look at music in new and joyful ways” said Community Development Advisor, Natale Lewington.

“We are proud to support the MSO Outreach Programme and bring music into the lives of school students and our local community.”

“These free community concerts are a good opportunity to take time out from our hectic lives, particularly in the lead up to Christmas, and spend some time soothing the senses” said Natale.

The concerts will run on Monday 1 December at the following times:

  • 10.00am Lara Community Centre
  • 11.15am Rosewall Neighbourhood Centre
  • 2.00pm Norlane Neighbourhood Centre
  • 3.15pm Cloverdale Community Centre
