Paul Cristofani, Shell Geelong Refinery's Sustainable Development and HSSE manager, said this milestone is the best performance in the refinery's 53 year history.
"Achieving this milestone means that no person has been seriously injured on our site for three years," said Paul.
"We have worked hard to strengthen our safety culture at the refinery.
"Having a strong safety culture means that people work safely not just because they are being told to, but because they want to - for themselves and for their colleagues.
"Part of the safety program involves getting employees comfortable with intervening to stop unsafe behaviour by others.
"This means that employees are not just responsible for their own behaviour, but for their colleague's safe behaviour as well.
"Safety is our number one priority. This milestone is an excellent achievement and is considered world class." Paul said.
