Greening Australia and Shell ‘link’ to support internationally renowned wetland

Project That Turns Elephant Dung Into Paper Wins Shell-Sponsored Award
A Sri-Lankan company that turns elephant dung into eco-friendly paper won a global competition for projects that benefit local communities and the environment. Maximus - opens in new window, based in Kegalle in the foothills of Sri Lanka’s central mountainous region, beat more than 800 other projects from 120 countries to win the World Challenge 2006 - opens in new window and a $20,000 grant from Shell.

Vote for grass roots innovators competing for funding in World Challenge 2006
The World Challenge is back: In association with BBC World and Newsweek, Shell is again looking to reward projects that make a real difference to local communities. From recycling used computers for charities to using elephant dung for paper products, Shell scoured the globe and identified 12 projects that benefit local communities and the environment. You can help choose the winning project by voting on the World Challenge 2006 website www.theworldchallenge.co.uk from October 7. The winner will receive a US$20,000 grant from Shell towards the project.

Shell and Anglo American join forces to progress an Australian clean coal to liquids project
Shell Energy Investments Australia Pty Ltd (Shell) and Anglo American plc today announced the signing of a joint development agreement (JDA) for the two companies to further advance the Monash Energy clean coal-to-liquids project in the state of Victoria, Australia. This agreement is the first under a clean coal energy alliance formed by Shell and Anglo American in May 2006.

MANAGEMENT SYSTEM RECOGNITION FOR SHELL GEELONG REFINERY
Shell Geelong Refinery has gained approval to operate its own Electrical Safety Management Scheme (ESMS). The refinery is the first organisation to apply for and receive accreditation from Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) since it came into being in August 2005 through the merger of the Office of the Chief Electrical Inspector (OCEI), and the Office of Gas Safety (OGS). Parliamentary acceptance of the scheme was published in the Government Gazette No. G32 on 10 August 2006.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORD HOLDERS VISIT GEELONG TO PROMOTE FUEL EFFICIENT DRIVING PRACTICES
Guinness World Record holders, John and Helen Taylor, today visited Geelong to share with Shell refinery employees the driving tips that allowed them to travel 28,970 kilometres, across 25 countries in only 24 fill ups (1303 litres) as part of the Shell Fuel Economy World Record Challenge. The Taylor’s visit coincides with the recent launch of Shell’s new Fuel Economy Formula.

Shell In Australia 2005 Annual Results
The Shell Companies in Australia today announced a profit before interest and tax for calendar year 2005 of AUD$1.268 billion, up from AUD$751.5* million in 2004. This represents a return on average capital employed of 13%. The improved result was attributable to a continuing robust upstream performance (Exploration, Production and Natural Gas), strong performance in the downstream Marketing businesses and a turnaround in the Refining business.

Shell Launches its new Fuel Economy Formula in Australia - Designed to Drive Australians Further
Melbourne, 10 May 2006: – Shell Australia today announced the launch of its new Fuel Economy Formula across its Shell Unleaded, Unleaded 95 and Shell Premium Unleaded fuels. The new formula is designed to lead to improvements in fuel economy, particularly when used in conjunction with fuel efficient driving practices.
