Technology

Shell's Amsterdam technology centre

We find innovative ways to provide our customers with cleaner, more efficient energy.  Our spending on research and development is higher than any of our competitors'.  In biofuels we are the world’s biggest distributor. As a technology leader, we work with others to develop advanced biofuels. We invest in developing vital technology to capture emissions from power plants and other industrial sites and store it safely underground. Technology is also helping us to open up new sources of natural gas - the cleanest-burning fossil fuel - and to squeeze more from existing oil fields.
