Job Areas - Technical

Shell’s reputation for technology is world-class. Technical innovation is a way of life for us - and the challenges keep coming. Operating in over 100 countries, in varied environments and diverse business areas, our technical talent helps keeps us at the forefront of innovation.

  • Global Engineering

We are in fact a global energy company. Shell companies have been finding and producing oil around the world for over a century. We also find, produce and transport gas. We're very active in renewable energy - from hydrogen, solar, geothermal to wind sources. In addition, we have growing businesses in power generation and a diverse portfolio of products in our chemicals businesses.

To develop fields and prospects on land and offshore, Exploration and Production (E&P) integrates the earth sciences with engineering and business skills. Our competitive edge lies in our technological ability and in our excellence in the management of complex energy projects, while meeting and balancing the needs of our stakeholders. To maintain this edge we invest heavily in people and technology.

Today, we have interests in exploration and production ventures in over 45 countries and employ around 30,000 staff. These ventures carry out a broad spectrum of activities: drawing up contractual agreements; exploring, surveying and drilling; assessing the results; developing and planning for production; running production operations and maintenance; and ultimately, decommissioning when the operation has run its course.

Against a background of fierce competition and fluctuating prices, we focus on innovation and the application of new technologies because we see these as keys to improving our performance in terms of output, costs, safety and environmental impact.
